Basset Hounds

It seems like basset hounds must love me.  Really, I did not go out searching for these dogs, they just came looking for me. To date, I have sculpted five different bassets which are on public display in Woodinville, WA.  So I just put them all under the same heading.  Please scroll down to see all examples.

“Bow”

2 X Life Size Edition of 12, 27”H x 41”L x 32”W

$15,000

“Bow” is part of a three-piece commissioned sculpture installed along the Parade Route in Woodinville, Washington, at 13804 NE 175th. Each year, the residents of Woodinville celebrate their favorite mascot, the floppy eared basset hound, with a public parade in August of bassets from all over the Pacific Northwest. They also host a Basset Bash, Basset Hook Ups, Basset Rescue, and Basset Boutiques.

The doggy model for “Bow” is a small female owned by Judi and Scott Taylor of Wallowa, Oregon, named Pokey. She is a rescue dog discovered online by the Taylors who drove to LA to pick up their new little charge and found that she had been the victim of a puppy mill and had been shot and left for dead. With loving compassion, Pokey’s owners restored her to health but had to remove one of her eyes. As you can see, my sculpture has returned her to wholeness into perpetuity for the people of Woodinville.

“Cap”

2 X Life Size Edition of 12, 60”H x 32”L x 52”W

$16,000

“Cap” is part of a three-piece commissioned sculpture installed along the Parade Route in Woodinville, Washington, 13804 NE 175th. Each year, the residents of Woodinville celebrate their favorite mascot, the floppy eared basset hound, with a public parade in August of bassets from all over the Pacific Northwest. They also host a Basset Bash, Basset Hook Ups, Basset Rescue, and Basset Boutiques.

“Cap” was modeled after a darling named Sara Sue, owned by Ben and Vickee Gockley, who live in my hometown Joseph, Oregon. She enjoys the “life-of-Riley” with her owners and will surely live a long and happy life with her partner Bubba.

“Tag”

2 X Life Size Edition of 12, 34”H x 45”L x 24”W

$15,500

“Tag”, named after his giant doggy tag inscribed “Precious”, is part of a three-piece commissioned sculpture installed along the Parade Route in Woodinville, Washington, 13804 NE 175th. Each year, the residents of Woodinville celebrate their favorite mascot, the floppy eared basset hound, with a public parade in August of bassets from all over the Pacific Northwest. They also host a Basset Bash, Basset Hook Ups, Basset Rescue, and Basset Boutiques.

“Tag” was modeled after a basset named Bubba, owned by Ben and Vickee Gockley, who live in my hometown Joseph, Oregon. Bubba was a puppy when I first met him. And he grew up during the course of my project! He is covered in loose rolls of hide and is a constant source of hilarity for his owners. He remains “Precious” to this day and lives with his partner Sara Sue with the Gockleys.
